The emotional impact of a law enforcement death or serious injury in the line of duty remains for years and families are left to cope with tragic losses. Research shows that traumatic grief is intense for up to five years. 59% of law enforcement survivors meet the requirement for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Support to officers who are catastrophically injured in the line of duty is as crucial as outreach to families who lost their officer in the line of duty. The needs are not fleeting. Because their officer paid the highest price to protect us, it is important we help law enforcement families cope with their new reality in life.

Behind the Badge Foundation’s Resource Center assists families and police agencies as they cope with trauma, grief and loss in the immediacy of trauma and in the years that follow. Networking with experts in their fields, the Resource Center assists families with:
